Modern Day Rosie the Riveter Excels in Television News

Being doubted from a young age didn't make Patti Smith, KVUE General Manager and President, less determined to break into television news.

Smith was told by a professor she wouldn't be able to break into media because she is a woman. She has been proving her professor wrong for years.

Smith believes having a passion will get anyone new in the business a job.

"Find out who you are working for and if the employer and your goals match," Smith states. "Being passionate will make employees noticed. This passion needs to stay strong."

Smith is a strong advocate about all colors and sizes working in a news station. Diversity is what molds the world, she said.
